Project Overview

Living Between House and Landscape.

The Meridian House sits on a quiet waterfront lot in Coconut Grove. Our clients asked for a home where the line between inside and outside almost disappears, designed for long evenings outdoors and a subtropical climate.

The Challenge

Openness in a Demanding Climate.

Large openings and outdoor living had to work with intense sun, heavy seasonal rain, and hurricane requirements, all without the house feeling closed or defensive.

The Approach

Deep Overhangs and Framed Views.

Generous cantilevered roofs shade the glazing and create sheltered terraces on every side. The landscape was designed together with the architecture, so planting, pool, and paving extend the lines of the house toward the water.

Design Highlights

Details That Define the Space.

  • Cantilevered shading roofs

  • Floor-to-ceiling sliding glass

  • Integrated pool and terraces

  • Native, low-maintenance planting

  • Hurricane-rated construction

Project Outcome

A Calm Retreat Shaped by Its Setting.

Completed in late 2024, the house stays naturally shaded through the hottest months and opens fully to the garden in the evening. It feels like one continuous place from the front door to the water.
