Project Overview
An Intimate Space for Contemporary Art.
Forma Gallery occupies a former printing workshop in Gowanus. The founders wanted a flexible exhibition space for emerging artists that feels intimate and calm, and that can change completely from one show to the next.
The Challenge
Flexibility Without Visual Noise.
The gallery needed to host paintings, sculpture, and installation work in the same room. Lighting, power, and hanging systems had to be adaptable while staying almost invisible to visitors.
The Approach
Light as the Primary Material.
We restored the original skylights and added a diffusing ceiling that spreads daylight evenly across the walls. Movable partitions, flush track lighting, and a polished concrete floor let curators reshape the room for every exhibition.

Project Outcome
A Gallery That Lets the Work Speak.
Since opening, Forma has hosted six exhibitions with very different formats. Visitors notice the art first and the architecture second, which is exactly the balance the space was designed to strike.
